	Abstract	Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells, are an efficient and clean source of electrical energy. The analysis of its operation requires experimental work, which allows measuring, modeling and optimizing PEM fuel cells electrical behavior under different operating conditions. Therefore, having an experimentation platform that allows to easily carry out its study and control is essential. This research presents the design and development of an open instrumental system that allows measuring, controlling and determining the operating parameters of a PEM fuel cell. As results, the polarization curves, voltage-current, obtained by the system itself in different experimental conditions are shown. These curves are a very useful tool to evaluate the electrical behavior of the PEM battery.

	Abstract	This paper presents a novel Siamese network architecture, as a variant of Resnet-50, to estimate the relative camera pose on multi-view environments. In order to improve the performance of the proposed model a transfer learning strategy, based on synthetic images obtained from a virtual-world, is considered. The transfer learning consist of first training the network using pairs of images from the virtual-world scenario considering different conditions (i.e., weather, illumination, objects, buildings, etc.); then, the learned weight of the network are transferred to the real case, where images from real-world scenarios are considered. Experimental results and comparisons with the state of the art show both, improvements on the relative pose estimation accuracy using the proposed model, as well as further improvements when the transfer learning strategy (synthetic-world data – transfer learning – real-world data) is considered to tackle the limitation on the training due to the reduced number of pairs of real-images on most of the public data sets.

	Abstract	This paper proposes a novel CycleGAN architecture for thermal image super-resolution, together with a large dataset consisting of thermal images at different resolutions. The dataset has been acquired using three thermal cameras at different resolutions, which acquire images from the same scenario at the same time. The thermal cameras are mounted in rig trying to minimize the baseline distance to make easier the registration problem. The proposed architecture is based on ResNet6 as a Generator and PatchGAN as Discriminator. The novelty on the proposed unsupervised super-resolution training (CycleGAN) is possible due to the existence of aforementioned thermal images—images of the same scenario with different resolutions. The proposed approach is evaluated in the dataset and compared with classical bicubic interpolation. The dataset and the network are available.

	Abstract	Los sistemas de recomendación son ampliamente utilizados hoy en día gracias a su capacidad de analizar las preferencias de usuarios y sugerir ítems. No obstante, el uso de los recomendadores está limitado a un modelo basado en el usuario y no en su historial de preferencias, discriminando así el campo de aplicación, por ejemplo, a sistemas académicos donde sea primordial el estudio de las decisiones del estudiante a lo largo de su carrera. El presente trabajo presenta un esfuerzo por adaptar filtros colaborativos basados en el usuario a filtros colaborativos basados en el historial del usuario. Con un conjunto de pruebas mediremos su efectividad utilizando dos algoritmos distintos de similaridad para recomendar materias a un estudiante en el sexto semestre de la carrera de Ingeniería en Electrónica y Telecomunicaciones ofertada por la FIEC – ESPOL. Los resultados muestran que es factible adaptar un recomendador a un modelo basado en el historial del usuario

	Abstract	El presente trabajo compara dos Implementaciones de Centrales Telefónicas VoIP de Código Abierto implementados sobre una Red Inalámbrica Amallada. El primero comprende la instalación de la PBX en un servidor tradicional y el segundo la instalación de una PBX en un enrutador inalámbrico. Nuestro objetivo es determinar cuál de estos dos sistemas es superior en cuanto a calidad de servicio se refiere. Para determinar la mejor solución, realizamos un estudio técnico de los paquetes capturados durante diferentes pruebas, considerando parámetros como el ancho de banda, retardo y jitter. Nuestros métodos de análisis pueden ser utilizados para futuros trabajos con una mayor complejidad y número de enrutadores inalámbrico, así como establecer el grado de afectación y el comportamiento de las dos PBX cuando haya congestión en la red.

	Abstract	Business process models can be useful for requirements elicitation, among other things. Software development depends on the quality of the requirements elicitation activities, and so adequately modeling business processes (BPs) is critical. A key factor in achieving this is the active participation of all the stakeholders in the development of a shared vision of BPs. Unfortunately, organizations often find themselves left with inconsistent BPs that do not cover all the stakeholders’ needs and constraints. However, consolidation of the various stakeholder requirements may be facilitated through the use of multiple levels of abstraction (MLA). This article contributes to the research into MLA use in business process modeling (BPM) for software requirements by reviewing the theoretical foundations of MLA and their use in various BP-oriented approaches.

	Abstract	Business process models (BPM) can be useful for requirements elicitation, among other uses. Since the active participation of all stakeholders is a key factor for successful requirements engineering, it is important that BPM be shared by all stakeholders. Unfortunately, organizations may end up with inconsistent BPM not covering all stakeholders’ needs and constraints. The use of multiple levels of abstraction (MLA), such as at the strategic, tactical and operational levels, is often used in various process-oriented initiatives to facilitate the consolidation of various stakeholders’ needs and constraints. This article surveys the use of MLA in recent BPM research publications and reports on a BPM action-research case study conducted in a Canadian organization, with the aim of exploring the usefulness of the strategic level.

	Abstract	How is software measurement addressed in undergraduate and graduate programs in universities? Do organizations consider that the graduating students they hire have an adequate knowledge of software measurement? To answer these and related questions, a survey was administered to participants who attended the IWSM-MENSURA 2010 conference in Stuttgart, Germany. Forty-seven of the 69 conference participants (including software development practitioners, software measurement consultants, university professors, and graduate students) took part in the survey. The results indicate that software measurement topics are: A) covered mostly at the graduate level and not at the undergraduate level, and B) not mandatory. Graduate students and professors consider that, of the measurement topics covered in university curricula, specific topics, such as measures for the requirements phase, and measurement techniques and tools, receive more attention in the academic context. A common observation of the practitioners who participated in the survey was that students hired as new employees bring limited software measurement-related knowledge to their organizations. Discussion of the findings and directions for future research are presented.

	Abstract	ISO 14143-1 specifies that a functional size measurement (FSM) method must provide measurement procedures to quantify the functional user requirements (FURs) of software. Such quantitative information, functional size, is typically used, for instance, in software estimation. One of the international standards for FSM is the COSMIC FSM method — ISO 19761 — which was designed to be applied both to the business application (BA) software domain and to the real-time software domain. A recurrent problem in FSM is the availability and quality of the inputs required for measurement purposes; that is, well documented FURs. Business process (BP) models, as they are commonly used to gather requirements from the early stages of a project, could be a valuable source of information for FSM. In a previous article, the feasibility of such an approach for the BA domain was analyzed using the Qualigram BP modeling notation. This paper complements that work by: (1) analyzing the use of BPMN for FSM in the BA domain; (2) presenting notation-independent guidelines for the BA domain; and (3) analyzing the possibility of using BP models to perform FSM in the real-time domain. The measurement results obtained from BP models are compared with those of previous FSM case studies.
